Ravenheat RSF84ET?

I have hot water but no heating, how can I check the CH thermistor, I read somewhere about using a resistor to see if the CH strikes up, can I do this, what size resistor do you recommend, if it doesn't strike up what else should I be checking. the boiler broke down all together last month, replaced overheat stat and water was restored, but no CH since.

Did I say Thermistor, No I said originally that I had read somewhere on how to check if a thermistor had blown by using a RESISTOR conected to both wires instead to see if the boiler would fire.
Is this the case or not, what size RESISTOR should I use to test it with - 15k OHM?.
some helpfull advise other than the attitude and costly engineer would be good!!!!!!!!!!!, but I guess you wouldn't know what a RESISTOR did or looks like would you?.

Why's that then. if I can save myself a bob or too I will.
I'm not touching the gas valve or anything associated with the gas system, I've succesfully carried out three repairs to this boiler previously, two of which where the ignition and main pcb. what I would like is some constructive assistance in what i need to do. be it safely, I'm not in the habit of blowing my home up thank you.

get a qualified engineer to look at it, you shouldn't be tampering with it by yourself.

Yes, I have fully checked that everything is as it should be, adequate / no loss of pressure, tried the thumping as I know that this has worked before, as I say a month ago got up, no water or heating located problem to be the overheat stat, now have hot water but no heating, no lights no lock out/ reset. nothing, makes a noise but doesn't even attempt to ignite no spark or didley.
