Mend Gardenline GPCS 42

Chainsaw Brake?

I have lost the manual to my GPCS 42 cc chainsaw (purchased form Aldi), and I want to check the brake is working correctly. Most chainsaw brakes "click" on and release if the saw kicks bach against the left hand, but the Gardenline chainsaw engages the chain when the brake is held on. Is this correct or should it "click on"?

It should stop entirely, instantly, I would suggest the chain brake loop that goes around the clutch has broken and a new loop is required.
