How can I fix my KitchenAid KUD124SE dishwasher?

The door latch on my KitchenAid dishwasher will not release so the door can open. I had this problem once and someone gave me directions to open the door. Something to do with the 'magnet' on the door. I have turned the power off to the dishwasher and back on....this did not help.

I finally called the local dishwasher repair. They basically removed the screws to take apart the door which allowed them to get to the latch.

There is no other way according to Kitchenaid or my local repairman - taking the door apart is the only way!
