Hello, I was given one that stopped working (it was stuck at the start up screen). It sounded like a gear was stripped. Had the main part of the printer in bits but everything was fine. Listened more carefully and it was coming from the scanner part.
I took the scanner apart and everything looked fine. I don't know if it was not receiving a signal to tell the motor controller that the scanner bit that runs on a rail has reached the end.
I don't know what I exactly did but it started to work again. I removed the motor, belt and rail/bar. Put it all back together and it started to work.
The scanner part took the longest time to take apart since there was no visible signs on how to remove the control panel after the clip on front was removed. Theres a hole close to the bottom in the middle that allows you to push a clip down with a screw driver and it slides off to reveal another two screws.
Its not a difficult job it's just that you have to take your time and don't force things as you will up breaking them.
