Mend Microsoft Xbox 360 Play Games Game

my xbox 360 wont play games?

my xbox 360 will play a original dvd video disk but when i put a xbox 360 game disk in it comes up saying some thing like : to play this game please insert it into a 360 console . can anyone please tell me if i need a new dvd rom or can it be fixed some how.

if its under warranty send it back to microsoft if not try opening it and cleaning the laser i use cotton buds and cd cleaner
