Mend Gainsborough Impulse Shower Control Jammed

Gainsborough Impulse shower?

Like a few others on here my control wheel jammed and I bought a new front cover. But now when i put thecover on t still doesn't turn, or if I press it the water comes on, the dial turns but you can't switch it off! Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
