toilet keeps turning on?

Denners again,
I managed to cure my problem, which I think is the same, I found the answer on here tonight.
The washers in the toilet flush syphon became blistered and hence did not make a flush seal, therefore just burst all the blisters with a needle, slapped a bit of vaseline on it, put it all back together and hey-presto... Cant believe how much time I have wasted, but there you go!!!
Knowledge is the bomb! - Keep up the good work forum people, dont know how much this could have cost me if I have had to call a plumber or even buy a new flush unit

I am having exactly the same problem at the moment, after replacing the float valve etc the source of the problem is the simple fact that water is seeping through into the toilet bowl and hence lowering the water level in the cistern. Because the water level is getting lower it continually keeps filling up every so often which makes a louder than normal noise as the amount of water entering is so small.
My current loo flush is based on an air push button and unfortuantely I am struggling to find any help online, I bought some new washers from B&Q but these were not correct for my loo and therefore the leak is still present, so I guess I will need to go to a specialist plumbers merchant
