24v to 12 for a tow hitch?

hella make a devise for doing exactly this and it is available at good auto electrical parts distributors .
it is pretty straight forward to fit .

(1) Take your supply from the positive of the first battery instead of across both batteries, thus giving you 12 V. You would of course need to install appropriate fuses somewhere along the trailer/towing circuit.
(2) Use a "potential divider" - put 24 V across two resistors of equal resistance which are in series. Make a connection between the two resistors - there will be 12 V across either one.
Bear in mind that unskilled people messing around with the electrical systems in trucks (adding accessories without fuse protection etc,etc) is the main cause of truck fires!

Put 24v bulbs in the caravan sockets - thats the easiest way!
