Sounds like a "check engine" light. If it is red, do not drive and have it checked immediately. If it is orange, you will need a diagnostic on the engine done soon and will probably show a faulty sensor that needs replacement. Do not wait long as some sensor failures could lead to expensive repairs if ignored.
