RISK OF PARTICLE FILTER BLOCKING?

have a 4 year old (2005), Peugeot 1.6 hdi with 72k on the clock, now comes up with message RISK OF PARTICLE BLOCKING, and also anti pollution warning lamp/warning, that is a triangle reddish/orange colour lamp ON dash-board warnings.
took to a Peugeot dealer, did a diagnostic computer check and replaced supposedly DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE SWITCH, where this is fitted unknown to me, charged me £141.
when i collected car, the faults still existed, dealer told me to fill tank full with diesel, then drive car for speeds 60-70 for 30-60 minutes on motorway and this should reset system, clear message and switch lamp off.
this did not happen, filled tank full 3 times and done same speed test and drove for 90-120 minutes, still did not clear fault.
took car back to dealer for another check, now they say, ADVISED REPLACEMENT PARTICLE FILTER REQUIRED £697.69.
so any ideas of free help on what do check myself or do, i hate to be robbed by a dealer with might be this and might be that, when maybe they is an more cheaper and sensible approach to fix my problems?

It is possible to take out this filter and then reprogram ecu that it's still exist. But this should be done not in original service. In lithuania it cost approx 50-70 eur

afraid not the regeneration process is just part of normal running of the vehicle its all controlled by the engne e c u which carries out processes to increase exhaust gas temperature the high temperatures are what burn the soot particles from the filter

Can it be put on a 'forced regeneration cycle'?

the particle filter is fitted in the exhaust just before the cat it's job is to remove soot particles from the exhaust, it tends to clog up on short journeys,as the the gases dont get hot enough to regenerate the filter' cleaning the filter and topping up the eloys fluid is part of routine servicing 60-70 mph for 15-20 mins might help clear it but in 3rd gear to get the gases nice and hot , if you put PEUGEOT PARTICLE FILTER on a google search there are a few forums to explain the system, if it needs sorting it will be cheaper at a good indy

This AA article may not save you money but it might help to explain your situation.

It suggests the car has done a lot of stop start journeys and that the problem has persisted for some time. It also suggests costs of £1000 - wow - motoring can be so expensive - I blame the Green lobby and the follow the crowd politicians - now on vacation for 82 days!
