Mend Alarm System Triggered

I have an alarm system in my home?

I have an alarm system in my home which is not connected any more to an outside alarm company. I put my hand on the keypad and must have triggered off the alarm and it wouldn't shut. My husband unplugged it from downstairs in the basement. I could reset it but I forgot my code. How can I put a new code in if I forgot the old one..Thanks helpppp
