How can I repair cigarette burns in my car's carpets?

I bought a used 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada and it has some old cigarette burn holes in the carpet. Are there any kits available to repair this. Or any other ideas? I don't smoke and she is a slightly metallic ruby red beauty, it's just these damn burns bug the heck out of me. The interior carpet is a beige/tan and most of the holes are on the drivers side. Some are as big as a nickel and others as small as a pin head. But every week I hand wash her and black-out the wheels and other black trim (weather permitting). It seems everytime I vacuum her these holes are getting bigger!! YUCK!!! Anyone have an idea? I have already put down excellent floor mats, but these don't fix anything, she just looks better and it protects the rest of the carpets. HELP!!!! :-)

There's no magic fix for cigarette burns - as a smoker of 47 years I know this very well. Vehicle carpets are usually man made fibre (fiber) and the heat melts, disfigures and discolours (discolors).

You might spend a fortune and have a specialist re-carpet the interior or you might try patching - i.e. cut out the offending burn and glue in (or use very sticky carpet tape) a piece of good carpet from an unseen area like under a seat for instance. If you take care the join may only be visible to somebody actually looking for it - unseen by a casual observer.

Good luck...
