escort gti gear box? will an si fit??

the diffences between the GTI and the SI is GTI comes with RS 2000 body kit and HALF leather seats n that is all otherwise they have the same gearbox, engine, same 0-60, same top speed, GTI is a higher insurance group - dont know why? reason why i know because i own a 1.8 SI
JUST MAKE SURE THE GEARBOX IS FROM A 1.8 SI NOT THE (1.6 SI) DIFFERENT ENGINES!!
