Vivaro Cold starting?

Hi,i have a 02 vivaro 1.9 diesel.Had the van for 3 weeks and its been running fine until last week,it wouldn't start in the mornings unless i gave it a squirt of easy start then it would run fine all day,today it started kangarooing when accelerating.Since having the van i have noticed that there are 4 wires disconnected from the aluminium housing which look like it has 4 glo plugs on top and 2 pipes coming from it.What is it? and could this be the problem?
