VCR tape stuck in GoVideo VCR player/recorder; won't eject?

My Go.Video VCR DDV3120 has a tape in deck one that won't eject. I can see it, but it won't come up to the level of the door for ejection. An "error" message appears, preventing me from using deck two also.
How can I get the tape out?
