Mend Royal 480nt Cash Register Error Beeping

How to correct the E and beeping sound after I turn on my Royal 480nt ?

I stored the register in its box and hadn't used it for about 8 years. I cannot find the manual. I plugged it in turned the key to its on position and an "E" showed up along with a piercing sound as a beep. Can you assist me in correcting this problem. I do not know the "error" that has occurred.

Hi.
It sounds like the battery has gone flat, and you have lost everything from the register. Since Royal usually just bought TOWA registers and re-branded them, try the TOWA RAM clear:

Turn key to P or program mode.
Turn power off at wall.
Hold C or CLEAR while turning on at wall.
