Mend Dual Sew 3400 Sewing Machine Material

I have a dual sew 3400 sewing machine. The material I am trying to sew is too thick to fit under presser foot. Is there any way to get the machine to sew thicker materials?

The machine is set but you can slacken off the pressure on the presser foot but it is risky, you must be needing to sew something maore than half an inch thick.
