Under the battery is a drain hole which gets blocked with leaves. Take the battery out - clean the leaves and leave a piece of galvanised wire down throught the hole and out beyond the battery so you can wiggle it without taking the battery out again. You can get the battery out more easily if you pull the trim from the edge of the bulkhead. The battery can then be tipped slightly forwards to lift it.
