How can I fix fridge freezer?

My fridge freezer as stopped freezing, I have had a look at the rear, it seems that there is a slight humming noise but the compressor is not running,after a few seconds theres a cliclking sound and it cuts out . One minute later the cycle starts over again. Is the compressor faulty or the relay ? thanks martin
