craftman lawn tractor 4000?

if the lawn tractor is cranked and you take your foot off the brake and try to move it dies. can u help me?

It happened to me to but it was stuck in 6th gear so neutral became 6th and if you put it in another gear the engine would die. Get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it...
