my tv keeps going to standby, help?

i have a technika lcd tv which has been working fine and all of a sudden this problem has started.
every time i turn the tv on the picture will come on for a few seconds and then automatically switch to standby mode. I haven't had the tv that long (just over a year) any suggestions please?
