singer sewing machine?

My old electric singer sewing machine 99K carries on going even though nobody is touching the foot pedal. Can I repair it.

Hello Sue,
very easily, undo the screws on the foot control so you can open it, you will see a small thing that looks like a fuse across the teriminal, this is called a suppressor, take it out and throw it away you don't need it any more ypour problem will be solved.
