Portable DVD player displays "no disk"?

I have a NextPlay model NP70PDKB portable dvd player. After inserting a dvd... any dvd, the screen displays "no disk". Please, can anyone tell me a remedy for this situation. The laser activates and adjusts, and the disk spins, but does not read.
