Mend AEG 60820 Empty Filter Blocked

AEG favorit 60820 dishwasher: how do you empty the plastic filter?

Our plastic filter is blocked with what looks like mould. How can it be opened to clean out as the dishwasher techie says it needs to be replaced- the second one in three years.
