Mend Ravenheat 820/20 Boiler Combi

How can I fix my Ravenheat Boiler pilot light?

I have a Ravenheat 820/20 combi boiler. The pilot light has gone out and will not relight. The flame comes on when the button is depressed, but goes out when button is released. I`ve tried switching the boiler off while flame is lit to stop fan pulling flame out, but no success.

After 2 hours of trying to light pilot, I gave up. Next morning I decided to have one more go before calling the plumber. Guess what? Bingo, lit first time. Maybe i've just got a temperemental boiler.

sounds like the thermocouple is knackered, this is a cheap part (roughly £5), but i must insist you get a Gas safe registered engineer to do the work
