Mend Riding Lawn Belt

lt 1000 riding lawn mower?

Fan belt on mower deck was smoking and finally broke. I replaced belt and and still smoking. Pulleys for blades have movement but not real free. Idler pulley was replaced 3yrs ago, still seems in good shape. Help will be appreciated.
