Mend Zanussi ZX99/5SI Freezer Temperature Compressor

Zanussi ZX99/5SI Frost free fridge freezer?

I have had this appliance since 21 December 2002. On 19 Jan 06 I came home to find the temperature alarm bleeping and the freezer temperature way up. I tried hitting the internal reset switches to no avail. Cleaned out the radiator vents. Powered off at the mains and restarted. It then proceeded to work perfectly until 21/01/06 when the problem repeated. Re-application of the previous treatment brought no relief this time. I have since had the back off, checked the wiring and given the radiator a thorough clean. The cooling fan function seems to be OK. The compressor is too hot to touch. There seems to be some but insufficient freezer cooling and reasonable fridge cooling.

Any repair suggestions would be welcome.

the light is on in the fridge but doesnt chill or freeze since i moved it

The same model had similar problems for us about 4 years after purchase. Turned out the heating element had gone so frost was building up and blocking the vents between the compressor and the fridge section.

We had exactly the same problem with ours too. It's more than likely going to get worse. I got an engineer out who informed me that it was a compressor problem and common in this fridge freezer.

I ended up taking ****** (shop bought from) to small claims court over cost of the fridge freezer - went to trading standards first.

it seems that the seal in the door may have gone in the freezer or the door has been left open at some point take the top draw out of the freezer then undo the top of the freezer there should be about 4 screws if there is ice on the top then that is probably the reason turn it off for about 24 hours then that should sort it
