how can i fix my remote control key for my ford mondeo?

my remote control key for my mondeo doesn't work. I was told it was the battery, but when i swapped the battery for the one in my wife's car, her remote control key worked, but not mine with her battery. I swapped again. Hers worked again, but not mine. can it be fixed?
