Hi Paul, access is rarely straight forward with any Briggs engine but they are ok once you get used to them, and I would start by removing the air cleaner top, and probably followed by the recoil starter housing - this should give access to the screws that secure the carburettor to the fuel tank. You may have to remove the fuel tank also to allow the carb to be removed. You've also got to consider the spring and wire rod linkage that connects from the governor to the carb throttle. It really depends on how you feel confidence wise!
