Mend Aerus 5500 Switch Working Small

How to open a Aerus 5500 canister ?

canister bag indicator switch not working. small piece of plastic broken off and i need to bypass bag indicator. Runs with indicator depressed but shuts off when new bag inserted. Trying to find out what the problem is.

Most of the time the problem isn't the bag switch itself. The air valve that regulates the "Automatic Control" develops a leak and will turn off the motor as soon as any resistance is put to the airflow (closing the bag door). You would need to have it repaired by a vac. repair place who is knowledgable about Electrolux's.
