Mend Diplomat APM6724 Tap Thermostat Problem

Diplomat fridge APM6724?

Fridge does not get cold enough. When I tap thermostat, motor starts up. Does it need new thermostat, or could the problem be caused by something else?

When you tap the thermostat it bursts into life... I would suspect the thermostat...
