Mend Worcester Problem Oil Burner

Another lockout problem with worcester oil boiler?

I have a 'Worcester' 'Danesmoor utility'- 12/14- oil boiler,
The burner is a 'electro oil Inter B9A.
First noticed cold rad's, checked out boiler, to see the lockout lamp on the control box was lit, pushed it back in, it all started up fine just as normal, worked fine for an hour, when it went off because the hot water was up to temperature and was meant to come back on for the heating, the lockout lamp kicked in again, tried it once more turning it off and on again with the indoor thermostat, "lockout" again.
So I ordered a new 0.50x60ES DANFOSS NOZZLE, when it came I stripped out the baffles cleaned them, scraped off all the interior, hovered out the inside (inside no excessive build up, not black or sooty) checked the "photocell" (it was clean, but rubbed it with a cloth anyway) fitted the new nozzle, the electrode gap is ok and the electrodes are clean, also I cleaned the oil filter on the pump,(was not really dirty).also at this point opened the oil shut off tap, and the oil flowed.
Reassembled, put the heating and hot water on, it fired up as normal and run for the day no problem, sounded ok, just as it always has, thought I'd cracked it ! -- next morning -"LOCKOUT" I have reset the lockout button three times today and each time it run's perfectly, but as soon as it switches itself off -- then, when its asking for a relight -- "BLINK" it locks out again. Got any Ideas ??? The boiler is about eight years old, it has had about five or six new nozzles and about four years ago it had a new coil.
I was thinking that, that would be my next step, a new coil,,, the control boxes insides looks as new as a button and seems to work fine when I'm watching it, but I have thought of replacing that as well, what do you think ???? I am at a loss what to do really !!!!
Anything you could advise would be very much appreciated
Thanks for taking the time to read this
cheers Mark

My father in laws oil boiler stopped working last week. He's had a plumber in they changed the fuel pump and the tiger loop but still not working me and the father in law got it going by using a container outside with oil and raising it about two foot off the ground. The plumber came today to reconnect the main tank he checked all pipes all clear but still won't fire up seems that there's no oil getting to the boiler. I'm a gas plumber but not oil so it's new to me but saying that when they fitted the fuel pump could they of fitted it wrong as I'm thinking it's not drawing the oil in?

I have same lockout problem. My boiler is about 10 years old. I Tend to find that it needs descaling once every 2 or 3 years as heat exchangers have limescale build up as I`m in hard water area.

I would not advise changind a nozzle unless you have a gas analyzer to re set the combustion as it is easy to get a poor burn. On a B9 burner the problems is most likely to be the solonoid coil but I have also had this problem before couse by the transformer, EBI's are useless.

possible oil pump solenoid coil is dropping out on temperature. When boiler first fires it is cold and the magnet lifts ok to let the oil through, over time the coil warms up and due to age can drop out. This will cause oil to stop flowing and the lockout to occur intermittantly.
You can just get the coil without the pump and only takes a few minutes to change.
Otherwise call worcester

Hi mark, it could be 2 things.
1e The weather is could at the moment which means that your nozzle is not the right one, replace it for a 0.5 - o.6H (H for hollow)
I have done this many times for customers lately and it helps
2e Your oilvalve in the oil pump is hanging (change the spring/pump)

Hi Mark, when it locksout trying to start back up, does the motor run? if not try replacing the capacitor.

Or, does it actually fire (for about 3-5 secs) then lock out....if so, change the photcell.

Any other info on the lockout would help to pinpoint the issue.
