Mend Oven Electricity Timer

Problem with cooker?

My son has a problem with his oven, it has been causing the consumer unit to trip. Last night he turned the oven on and said it was working seconds later it tripped the electricity again. he said the fan and light were on. During all the problems he has had the clock and timer were still on.
Any idea`s
