Mend Moved House Working

how will i find out if my freezer is broke ?

i moved in to a new house and my landload left a cupboard feezer it was working fine to start now it isnt freezing my food, but my friend said if it was broke it would start to smell and my freezer hasent i dont know the lights still seem to work on it
