How Can I reset Scantronic 9651 House Alarm?

Hi,

I moved into a rental property last year and the alarm has never been working, the landlord won`t sort out for me so would like to try and reset it myself. Im a female and know nothing much about house alarms. The panel says "Global Tamper" and then flashes DOOR. Im guessing at some stage it may have gone off but this would of been before I moved in so don't know for sure. I do have the manual and am looking at page 18 on trying to reset however how can I do this if I don't know the original code. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I don't see why I should have to pay to call out an engineer when its not my property but I would like to have a working alarm and feel safe.

but as e manno said its not your system,if you blow the control panel your idiot of a land lord may sue you to get it repaired,its his resp,to get it fixed why not call him and tell him the alarm is going off at all times :-)

remove the door contact look see if the switch wires are touching the tamper wires,(the tamper wires will be on a brass screw together) the switch wires will be on a silver screw on at each end of the switch the global tamper means all the tamper wires are connected in series do you have the engineering manual ?

You obviously realise it's not your property....... so neither is the system.
However there is a method called a 1st stage reset that resets the user and engineering codes back to factory settings,instructions for this can be found in the engineering or installation manuals.

Can't tell you on here for obvious reasons but you will be surprised at what google will turn up.

I also think you have a door contact problem going on the panels Descriptors.

Thanks, I do appreciate your reply however I am looking for help and instruction on how to do this rather than suggestions on going back to my landlord. I work for an airline and am away frequently, now the dark nights are coming I want to get is reset, I know there must be a way of doing it.

It's your landlords responsibility,
Read your tenancy agreement (fixtures fittings etc).

Either the system should have been decommissioned or left in a usable state.

Keep on at him it's his legal obligation.
