ldv brakes?

i have two convoys and with both i cant get any brake pedal for long i bleed them the pedal goes hard and a couple miles up the road it goes again im not loosing any fluid and all the pipes and cylinders are dry also on one i cant get any hand brake ive stripped both drums and freed everything up and replaced both slave cylinders and the handbrake splitter cable wich was seized and still no joy the other truck isnt very good either also in south cornwall any one recomend a good mot test station as ive been screwed by three already failing me on new tyres and making stuff up any help would be greatly apreceated

Get a 100ml syringe from your local vets about £2 or so. Fill it with brake fluid slowly, and connect it to the bleed hose. Open the nipple and empty syring of brake fluid. Reverse bleed was the only way on my Convoy. Put a rag under the reservoir. This will wok unless something wrong. Don't wast time with power bleed kits.

you shouldn't repair the brake lines if they have a hole they need replacing theirs a lot of pressure in the lines it will blow again they are not expensive its very dangerous to do that you bleed them by putting a pipe on the bleed nipples into a bottle with some fluid in and get a friend to pump the brake pedal you do this on all four wheels until no more air comes out

i,ve just repaired a hole in the brake line on my ldv van with cold weld, but the brakes are still soft , how do you bleed same, thanks

with regards to handbrake, you need to let all adjustment off the handbrake cable,then adjust up brake shoes [dont over adjust] then re adjust cable- i take it you have checked shoes/cylinders/linkages etc...the spring on cable in drum is possibly getting coilbound! with regards to foot brake-have you checked front wheel bearings for excess play!

I think your brake pedal fault is due to a faulty master cylinder - if the pedal sinks to the floor without any fluid loss it can't really be anything else.... As for a poor handbrake, either the shoes aren't adjusting up to the drum - they may be automatic or manually adjusted - I don't know, or maybe the drums are worn past their wear limit diameter, and the shoes too?
