Mend Bleed Air Push

how do I bleed an oil furnace?

My oil furnace had no oil for a month or more, and now has air in it presumably. I did buy oil now. When I push the red button, it will start for a minute or two, and shut it self off. I forget how to bleed the furnace, or get things going. I don't want to call the 90.00 guy, and don't want to blow it up. Thanks! I do not know the make--it's in a different part of the building--but it's about six years old.

ON THE FUEL FILTER THERE WILL BE TWO NUTS ONE BIG ONE IN THE MIDDLE AND A SMALLER PROBLY 1/4 TO THE SIDE. TURN YOUR FURNACE SWITCH OFF, AND LOOSEN THE SMALLER NUT UNTILL AIR IS COMING OUT. WAIT FOR OIL BUBBLES, THEN TIGHTEN THE NUT BACK UP. NOW TO BLEED THE LINES. THERE WILL BE A BLEEDER VALVE BESIDE THE OIL LINE ON THE FUEL PUMP WHICH MAY LOOK LIKE A GREASE NIPPLE ABOUT 3/8. LOOSEN IT OFF A LITTLE... MAKE SURE IT DOES NOT COME RIGHT OFF. RE TIGHTEN THE NUT AND THEN LET IT LOOSE SLIGHTLY. TURN ON THE FURNACE AND LOOSE THE NUT AT THE SAME TIME. THE VALVE WILL SPIT OIL AND AIR AND THEN PURE OIL. TIGHTEN BLEEDER VALVE AND THE BURNER SHOULD KICK ON.
PUT A CAN UNDERNEATH TO CATCH ANY DRIPPING OIL.
