Mend Ariston AV1247C Trips Mains Machine

Ariston AV1247C Trips the mains MCB?

The washing machine trips the power circuit when it is switched on. Previously it would intermittantly trip at the end of a wash, now it trips as soon as you switch it on.

Does anyone have a suggestion what may casue this behaviour?
