Moving a button on a wool blazer?

I've had to move a button on a wool blazer. I've removed all of the thread but you can still see where the original button was sown on (all be it, up close), i've tried pressing the mark out, to no avail. Any thoughts?

If its possible try using 'bigger' buttons if the distance allows. If they are too big to fit through the button hole try stitching the origionals on top of the big ones.

hi steve, heres what i do, you need to gently dampen the area with the marks using a cotton bud, then with the eye end of a sewing needle (+ this is the fiddly bit!) gently reshape the threads so that they are woven again like the rest of the blazer, after your happy that everything is back in shape, cover the dampened area with a piece of cloth and steam it, dont move the garment untill its cold and it should be good as new. you may need to repeat the steaming part a couple more times. hope this helps. ju. x
