iPod clicking noise on Bose Sound Dock?

When I put my iPod classic in the sound dock connector the speakers make a rapid continuous clicking sound that won't stop. Any ideas?

Thank you for the answer to this problem (see below). I just about threw out my Bose Sound Dock because the clicking noise appeared and wouldn't go away! So happy that I found this. My little guy loves have music in his room and this solved our problem!

Just read this thread, I borrowed my daughters Bose speakers for my Fitness Class (mine were not loud enough) and thought I had broken them! Just a loud ticking noise, have now plugged the cable in the correct way round and all is fine, phew! Thanks for all your comments, a great help.

I have had the exact same problem and spoke with Customer Care at Bose who advised me to try the square plug from the ac unit. The plug can go in anyway which is a silly design but it's easy to do. If the plug is not in the correct way it will click. The top of the plug is raised and it has some writing on it, make sure this is at the top and make sure the 4 pins have not been bent. It worked on mine and I though I had tried every combination with the plug. Good luck!

I've had a similar problem with a dock connector to a car stereo. Noise is not there via the headphone port. An no noise via the dock using a Nano. So i have to assume it is the hard disk causing some interference noise to bleed through the dock connector. very annoying.
