When pulling away in first gear it does not always engage and pops out so I am forced to use second gear instead. Been advised it is time for a new gear box !!! Any helpful advice.
I find that making pointless grunting noises and shouting at the wife does nothing to stop my transit popping out of gear but it makes me feel good!?! I'd fix it if it wern't for that fact??? Oh by the way she's really ugly so i feel justified!

i had the same problem got told by garage to change gearbox.that was bad advice.when i went to breakers to get gearbox he told me what to do it cost me 63 pence plus i done it myself.where the cables meet the gearbox unclip the cables x 2 unclip the silver clips on side of selecter,undo x 6 bolts and lift out selecter.there is a bolt half way down the shaft ether do yhe bolt up tight or replace.mine broke in the end and stuck in secomd gear the bolt head went through bottom of gearbox but repaired it with metal epoxy.so do it now before yours breake.peterd

hi mate,there is a chance this is correct but would certainly be sure the relevant engine/gearbox mounts are in good order first and not over stretching the gear change cables....there may be a adjustment of these cables which could improve the situation
