Mend Citroen C5 HDI Filter Diesel Fine

FUEL FILTER REPLACEMENT CTROEN C5 HDI?

I have just changed the diesel filter on my 03 c5 hdi .it went on fine but the bottom of the filter (central tube) was open ,should this have been plugged with a plastic plug ?

Was the new filter the same as the one you removed? I bought one for mine and realised there are up to 3 different types depending on the system used ie Siemens or Bosch.

at the bottom of the filter housing there should be a plastic knurled nut which has a short spout and a tube attached to it, this is for draining the water out of the filter but it should be closed under normal use
