Mend Homelite XL2 Oil Tank Area

Homelite XL2 Auto - Oil Line Hookup?

There are 2 oil lines coming out of the oil tank. One is from the oil cap area and the other is drawing oil from the bottom. Where do these 2 lines connect to? I think I may have them reversed because the line near the oil cap is sucking air and I suspect is might be an oil return line?
