Mend LG RH177 DVD Recorder HDD Dubbing

How can I get my LG Recorder RH 177 to record on DVD?

When I insert a DVD in the drive and try to dub from the HDD I get the screen message "Change recordable disc". I have tried several blank DVDs but it always refuses to dub on to them.
