Mend Ford Focus Keeps Cutting Out

2001 ford focus keeps holding back then cutting out?

i have a 2001 ford focus and when im in 2nd gear or 3rd gear trying to go 50 mph the car suddenly pulls back as if the brakes have been hit suddenly. then it sometimes cuts out afterwards? any ideas please?

Mine was just a hesitation at different times. Ford sent me a notice of this problem with a 10 year unlimited mileage warrantee to return the car to a dealer and have the fuel pump replaced free of charge.
