why will my mp3 player not turn on with new batteries in?

my inovix portable wma/ mp3 player imp-10 256 mb built in 128-1024 mb memory will not turn on when i put new batteries in that have come straight from the packet my mp3 player does work its not the batteries because they work in the television remote why is it happening?

It sounds to me like there is something wrong with the circuitry in the MP3 player.Beyond repair unless you have the receipt then take it back.Sorry i cant be anomore of help.
