power problem with philips MCM11/25?

When the system goes into Ecco power I am unable to restart it, all buttons do not respond. I was able to reset it by turning the power off. This now does not work. Sometimes when resetting the power the unit will continuously click and will eventually come on if left alone. When the Ecco power is turned off the system seems to work OK. Unfortunately a power failure has put me back to square one and I can not get the system to power up in order to switch off the ecco power mode. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
