There are 2 answers for that. The first one is that the computer is faulty. The second is that the pattern is faulty. The best way to find out is to run a very very simple pattern and see if the same thing happens. Also, enter a new programme into the computer manually, a very simple one, and see if the same problem arises.
Many owners do not realise that it is very important never to leave computerised machines near sunlight or radiators as this can destroy the computer.
Unfortunately the computers for these machines do not have a natural re-boot every time your turn them on.
There is also the possibilty that you are not programming the pattern in correctly or that you have not cleared the previous pattern programme. Maybe you need to Cancel or Finish programming the previous pattern entry (this happens with the KH-950). It is possible that the pattern reader has some dirt on it. Removing dirt or fluff has to be done very gently using something like Surgical Spirit which evaporates. Never clean with WD40 as that can leave an oily residue.
Whenever there are any problems that refuse to sort themselves out, it is worthwhile going back to the manual and operating the whole programme step by step.
If all that fails you need to find an engineer - oh dear
