Mend Volkswagen Passat Sport Losing Power Loses

Voltswagon Sport losing power and coil light coming on ??

When driving my Passat sport loses power for short period of time, I keep foot on accelerator and it picks up again. It is hapening more frequent. Any ideas what the cause could be ??
