How can I fix my performance power pro450 pwa pressure washer?

I was asked to try and fix at a friends power washer. I found that one of the ring-seals was broken and replaced it, but within the gun handle a spring appeared. there are two springs within the handle casing, one to spring the handle back to the off position and one to ????. I'm not sure where it goes but its role must be to stop the flow of water through the system somehow when the handle is moved to the off position. I'm now unable to stop the flow and I can't see where the spring should go. Does anyone know where it should go? Its the shorter stubbier spring of the two

Mike, your comment concerning the single 'O' ring seal breaking after a very short space of time is very accurate - I used this washer for the second time in 6 years and this 'O' ring split. I took the white-coloured part with the 3 'O' ring seals to http://www.flowseal.co.uk/. They measured the white-coloured part and the broken 'O' ring seal and sold me a minimum order quantity of 100 of replacement 'O' ring seals for £6 inc. VAT. These looked to be just what I was looking for. However, when I used the pressure washer with the replacement 'O' ring fitted, the pressure washer blew part of the 'O' ring seal out of it's seat and valuable pressure was lost. The spring goes inside of the hose delivery side. Then the white part with the single oring is inserted in the the hose delivery. This white piece as a flange on the OD which allows the trigger to push against it. When you release the handle the spring inside of the hose delivery side pushes the white piece forward which in turn moves the handle back the normal position

Inside the trigger assembly you will see a white part that seperates the hose delivery side and the hose barrel side. this piece is detachable. On one end you will see two seperate `O` rings, these rarely break. On the other end is a single `O` ring made of nylon (not rubber). This is the piece that will break first usually after a very short time. I have tried everywhere to get a spare part with no luck. Basically, for want of one small `O` ring you own a few quids worth of useless rubbish. to answer your question: the spring sits between this single `O` ring section and the inner housing of the delivery side.
